Team India star left-hand batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was one of the highlights when India’s squad for the upcoming Australia tour was announced. The 23-year-old batter was first left out of India’s Asia Cup squad, and now he missed out on the T20I squad for the Australia series, even after making his T20I debut in 2023. Despite scoring consistent runs for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the left-hander finds himself struggling to make a place in the T20I setup. The young batter recently spoke about his exclusion from the team on an appearance on a podcast with YouTuber Raj Shamani. There’s no point thinking about things that aren’t in my hands. I prefer to focus on improving what I can control. I try to live in the present and believe that whatever happens, happens for good. Whatever is written in my fate, no one can take it from me. And whatever isn’t meant for me, no one can give it.” Jaiswal has played 23 T20I matches in his career so far, scoring 723 runs at an average of 36.15 and an impressive strike rate of 164.31. In the IPL 2025 season, he also performed well, scoring 559 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 159.71, proving his ability to dominate in the shorter format. Shubman Gill For Australia ODIs Ajit Agarkar led the selection committee, recently announced the white-ball squad for the upcoming Australia tour, and one of the surprising announcements was the captaincy.
