The uncertainty surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 is now lifting. A new report indicates the tournament is poised to start in the first week of September. There were serious doubts previously owing to India-Pakistan tensions. These were amplified after a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, left 26 dead. In retaliation, India conducted a military strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Now, according to TOI, the Asia Cup 2025 is likely to begin on September 5 and will be hosted in the UAE. The hosting rights for the tournament will be retained by the BCCI. The tournament will be played out over 17 days and will feature six teams, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and UAE. Also Read | Will India Host Asia Cup 2025? But these reports were denied by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and it was stated that no decision was made. In a statement, Saikia said: “The Asia Cup matter or any other ACC event issue has not come up for discussion at any level… till now, BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding ensuing ACC events, leave alone writing anything to the ACC. At this stage, our prime focus is on the ongoing IPL and subsequent England series, both men and women."
