The Indian ODI Team, headed by Shubman Gill, has assembled in Vadodara for their first game against New Zealand on January 11, while India’s senior players Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli have arrived with the team and only four players remain to complete the squad. According to sources, Shreyas Iyer, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Siraj and Rishabh Pant have not arrived in Baroda yet to join their teammates. The entire 15-member squad was expected to be present on January 7, but four of them did not arrive owing to their participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Rishabh Pant was the captain of the Delhi team in Bengaluru against Haryana, while a completely fit Shreyas Iyer was the captain of the Mumbai team opposing Punjab in Jaipur. At the same time, Ravindra Jadeja played for Saurashtra in their match against Gujarat at Alur (Karnataka) and Siraj was in Rajkot for the match of Hyderabad against Jammu and Kashmir. In the absence of Pant, who is now with the national team, Delhi will appoint Ayush Badoni as the new skipper while Siddesh Lad will lead the Mumbai squad in Iyer’s absence. Delhi and Mumbai, along with Saurashtra, have secured their places for the quarter-finals, while Hyderabad has been eliminated from the tournament. Iyer seems to be coming back for India in the first ODI as he has healed from a long injury layoff. The vice-captain of India hurt his spleen when he was diving to take a catch in Sydney and that was during the last year's ODI series with Australia. He had to be taken to a hospital because of internal bleeding. Iyer has just come back to playing professional cricket and scored a fantastic 82 against Himachal and then 45 against Punjab on Thursday. Vadodara will be the place where the first men's international match in over 15 years is going to be held. Rajkot will be the venue for the second ODI on January 14 and the series will be concluded at Holkar on January 18. Also Read | 123 runs in List A game!
