In the third Test between India and England, at the iconic Lord's Cricket ground, the hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. The England skipper Ben Stokes reasoned the pitch and sun to walk in with the bat. For them, as they had announced earlier, Jofra Archer comes back in place of Jos Tongue. Well, for the Indian skipper, Shubman Gill confessed that he was a bit perplexed with the thought but given the toss on his side, he would have gone for the ball rather than the bat, mainly due to how Lord's has been behaving in the first days. Coming to the playing XI, India, as expected, got in Jasprit Bumrah and has benched Prasiddh Krishna, while the rest of the squad remains unchanged. Notably, the Indian team is riding high, especially with the dominating win they sealed at Edgbaston. and even with a 3-day gap in between, Gill ensured that they are not at all tired to avoid the field. For England, Stokes stands in a neutral position, having had the series in balance, 1-1. Here's what the captains said at the toss: Ben Stokes: We are going to have a bat. Generally this surface has some help for the bowlers in the first hour. It (the mood) is good, well fought series and we are up for this game. The body is good. Quick turnaround, we are fresh and ready to go. Everyone likes playing at Lord's and you have to enjoy the occasion. Just one change - Archer replaces Tongue. Shubman Gill: I was confused what to do till this morning. I would have bowled first. There would be something for the bowlers in the first session. Everyone chipped in and that's what the discussion was about. The bowlers are feeling confident, wasn't easy to pick 20 wickets on that (Edgbaston) wicket. I am feeling great, as a batter you expect to be in the middle of the situation and batting. We have one change - Bumrah for Prasidh. Read also: Where’s the Ball?!
