The West Indies had been horrible for the three days in the first Test at Ahmedabad, as India sealed the win by an innings and 140 runs, courtesy to Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round performance. West Indies started the match by winning the toss and sending India to the field. However, the West Indies team fell like the host of card! The hosts managed 162 runs with Justin Greaves being the highest run getter, scoring 32 runs off 48 balls. Only Shai Hope (26) and the captain, Roston Chase (24) managed to cross the twenties. Day 1 was slightly affected by the rain, yet India got to bat for some of the hours on Day 1. West Indies had a great start, managing the wickets of India batters Sai Sudharsan (7) and the in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal (36) on Day 1. From their KL Rahul, along with the captain, Shubman Gill, started creating the base of India’s monstrous second innings. KL Rahul scored his 11 Test hundred, his second at home. Shubman rightly supported him with a gritty half-century. Both stood for a partnership of 98 runs till Gil departed just before Lunch. KL survived the Lunch but went back shortly after play resumed. Meanwhile, Dhruv Jurel, who got a chance to keep wickets in place of injured Rishabh Pant, used his opportunity with both hands. After showcasing his glovework on day 1, the Agra boy scored his maiden century in style. A new celebration was unlocked as he dedicated it to the Indian Army, having his own background linked with it. Dhruv stood for 125 runs off 210 balls, as he got a thin outside edge off Khary Pierre. His partner Ravindra Jadeja stood not out for 104 till the end of the day until India declared the innings on day 3 morning, having 448 runs on the board.
