The former Australian cricketer Simon Katich feels that the Indian cricketers are playing some bizarre mind games considering the "enormity" of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The comment came during the ongoing controversies regarding the behaviors of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja towards the Australian media. Both Kohli and Jadeja had some unprecedented sour moments with the Aussie media that triggered controversies since the team landed in Melbourne for the Boxing Day Test. Backing the media's role in promoting the game, Katich said that the Indian team is up with mind games. Speaking to Channel 7, he said, "Obviously, there's been a few things unfolding in the last week or so, that haven't gone down well at that camp. It's probably just the mind games being played, given the enormity of this series. The media are here to promote the game and I don't know what the Indians are thinking at the moment. That's their problem." Read also: Watch: Fan Introducing His Son to Virat Kohli, Saying He's the World’s Best Batter What happened to Virat Kohli? On December 19, Virat Kohli was spotted visibly frustrated at the Melbourne Airport after a few camerapersons from Channel 7 ignored Kohli's request not to click his family's photos. Even though he went back silently, he later came back and inquired of a female journalist, Nat Yoannidis. Virat Kohli, who got the tag of "global superstar" from a Channel 7 journalist only, probably failed to re-communicate his idea of keeping his personal life private. After 4 days of the incident, a Channel 7 journalist issued a statement that Kohli, being a "bully," lashed out at Nat when her two colleagues clicked the photos. And, it seemed pretty okay to ignore people's requests because they want to "promote" the game, and definitely, the added advantage of normalizing targeting cameras to a "superstar!" The Jadeja snub As per Katich, the Indian team is playing mind games, but it was visible from Channel 7's own released video that Jadeja never said he wouldn't answer the English questions. Rather, the team manager was seen desperately asking the media not to turn on the camera and also informing them repeatedly that the team bus was leaving. Yet, out of the blue, the media started claiming that Jadeja refused English questions.
