The Lord's Cricket Ground will host the World Test Championship final from June 11 to 15, and is likely to suffer a huge loss after India failed to qualify. With India suffering a defeat in the Border GAvaskar Test series, South Africa will be facing Australia. And that has seeming to have dropped the interest for fans around the corner. Lord's, the iconic stadium in London, had priced tickets hoping for an outsurge, but it failed and is set to suffer a loss of nearly 4 million pounds in revenue. According to a report from "The Times," it said, “Organisers had originally priced tickets at a premium rate, believing India fan demand would outstrip supply, but the absence of India has significantly curtailed the financial windfall expected by Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), underscoring the financial influence of Indian cricket across the global game.” Indian started as the favorites in the cycle, but repeated series defeats, especially the 1-3 frustrating one against Australia, kicked them out of the final. The organizers had set the price, hoping Indians would go crazy to get one. But now that India is not in, MCC has been forced to drop down the price. The report added, "However, once it became clear that India would not feature in the final, MCC opted to lower ticket prices. The decision intended to prioritise a fuller, more vibrant stadium over the prospect of a sparsely populated ground with higher-priced seats." Read also: No Felicitations for Champions! Team India Exits Dubai Silently MCC's cunning policy backfired with India's exit Lord's Cricket Ground, even though it provides a wholesome cricket experience, is infamous for the ticket price. But keeping India in the run, the Marylebone Cricket Club was cunning enough to make those tickets overpriced, for which they were criticized last year. After that, MCC vowed to review the prices. The Times report added, "The decision to be flexible with prices for the World Test Championship final was taken this year, with tickets now being sold at between £40 and £90—about £50 cheaper than they had originally been priced, accounting for the loss in revenue. MCC members who bought tickets before the price drop have been refunded the difference." Lord’s is set to host two major cricket events in 2025. Along with the World Test Championship (WTC) final, the iconic venue will also stage the third Test of the India-England series. This highly anticipated match is scheduled to take place from July 10 to 14.
