India Under-19 played an almost flawless match to defeat England by 100 runs during the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026 final in Harare which brought them their sixth championship title on Friday. India won its 6th U19 World Cup final match with a controlled the game through their batting and bowling. The historic performance of 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi powered India to win the match through his knock, and the team delivered a bowling performance that restricted England's scoring possibilities. India attained the highest Under-19 World Cup final score in history when they scored 411 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. England lost the match after their middle order collapse from which they failed to recover despite Caleb Falconer scoring a courageous century. India has won the U19 World Cup tournament six times which includes victories in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022, making them the most successful team in the tournament's history. The teenage opener hit 175 runs off 80 balls to completely destroy the England bowling unit. Sooryavanshi became the second fastest player to score a century in U19 World Cup history when he reached his hundred in 55 balls. He maintained his fast pace through the match, reaching fifty in 32 pitches and his second fifty in 23 pitches. His innings included an astonishing 15 sixes and 15 fours, with 150 of his 175 runs coming through boundaries. The England bowlers had no answers as he used the full range of strokes to score all around the ground, turning the Harare Sports Club into his personal stage. His 175 is now the highest score by any player in the final of Under-19 World Cup finals and his splendid innings helped India achieve their highest team score in the final match of the tournament. Sooryavanshi established a new record for most sixes in a Youth ODI innings, surpassing his earlier record of 14 sixes which he achieved against UAE earlier in the season. He achieved another milestone by becoming the fastest player to reach 150 runs in Under-19 cricket as he accomplished this feat in only 71 deliveries, which surpassed Ben Mayes from England who took 98 balls to complete 150 earlier in the tournament. India troubled their batters at regular intervals to maintain controlled pressure on England through their effective fielding and accurate pitching. Caleb Falconer played through the team's collapse to score his century. The team lost multiple wickets during the match which made it difficult for him to receive help from his teammates. England finished their innings at 311 runs after 40.1 overs, which left them 100 runs short of reaching their target. For India, RS Ambrish bagged 3 wickets, Deepesh and Kanishk scalped two each, while Khilan and skipper Ayush Mhatre picked a wicket each to wrap the England innings. The entire Indian team delivered an outstanding performance which resulted in a final victory that set a record and will stay in people's memories for many years to come.
