The Indian cricket team will enter the Asia Cup 2025 donning the sponsor-less jersey after the deal between Dream11 and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) comes to an end. All-round talent Shivam Dube recently shared the first glimpse of the new kit on Instagram, assuring that the Men in Blue would be appearing without a sponsor logo on their jerseys. In the photographs released by Dube, the kit only carried the name of the tournament and the name of the country. The area where the sponsor logo is customarily put remains vacant. India starts their Asia Cup campaign on September 10 against the UAE in Dubai. Earlier this week, BCCI invited fresh applications for a new lead sponsor. Interested companies can buy the Invitation of Expression of Interest (IEOI) until September 12, with the final submission deadline set for September 16. The IEOI document comes with a non-refundable fee of ₹5.9 lakh. This time, the board has been prudent. It has also come out with a list of prohibited and banned categories to prevent something like the Dream11 withdrawal. In an interview with ANI, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed, "The board and Dream11 are ending their relationship." The move followed the signing into law of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 by President Droupadi Murmu, which prohibited money-based fantasy sports websites. The move left Team India sponsorless just before the continent tournament. Fans React to Sponsorless Jerseys Interestingly, fans have been quite open to the sponsor-free look. "Jersey looks much better without Dream11 logo. ICC tournament vibes," a fan shared on X, while others called it beautiful. Who Designed India’s 2025 Cricket Team Jersey? View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aaquib Wani (@aaquibw) The Indian cricket team's 2025 Jersey was designed by a Delhi-based homegrown designed named Aaquib Wani. He has his own design studio and was approached by Adidas to design the national team's kit. Wani started his career in sportswear design working on briefs for Real Kashmir Football Club and Rajasthan Royals before reaching the national cricket team. The jersey is a mix of comfort of players and cultural narrative. Wani incorporated traditional Indian Ikat motifs to symbolize strength and solidarity. Tricolor detailing on the shoulders pay tribute to India's heritage, and delicate architectural arches reflect on famous landmarks. His design has been extensively appreciated by the players and the fans and also been seen at events such as the Paris 2024 Olympics. Will India's Jersey Look Change Again? This corporate-less glance is not going to last very long. On September 2, the BCCI initiated bids for a fresh lead sponsor with stringent conditions. Only firms with a turnover of ₹300 crore and above are eligible to bid, while money-gaming brands that are online are excluded. So, by the time India hosts their big matches, the blue jersey that is iconic might again carry a corporate name.
