India refusing to shake hands with Pakistan has created massive turmoil with that one thing—the sportsman spirit. And now, the one who had a soft war with Shikhar Dhawan holding a cup in his hand, that Shahid Afridi, has now questioned India's lack of sportsmanship after they walked out of the field, leaving the Pak players waiting. Notably, India's T20I captain wa highly trolled when he was caught shaking hands with Pakistan's captain, Salman Ali Agha. However, the heat was on. Netizens were already calling out BCCI for not boycotting the match. Later the fans decided to not watch the match itself. Empty seats, advertisement money darth—all carried the boycott vibe. In such a scenario, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi felt that Surya, along with his team, got carried away by the social media heat. Speaking to Samaa TV, he said, "When the Asia Cup began, social media was filled with the boycott campaigns ahead of the match between India and Pakistan. Considering there was pressure, it is no surprise that the players and the BCCI were told not to shake hands with our team." Read also: Who Is Andy Pycroft? Asia Cup 2025’s Most Debated Referee India will be shamed in front of the world: Afridi Shahid Afridi felt that the world will shame India for not shaking hands with Pakistan to show their protest against the Pahalgam attack. Following India's attitude, PCB Chairman, also serving as ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi protested and even wrote to the ICC to suspend the match referee, Andy Pycroft. Even though, according to reports, ICC is likely to refuse Naqvi's claims, Afridi supports Pakistan's stance. Moreover, he has no rage for the players; he slammed the higher authorities for pressuring them. Afridi said, “In my opinion, there was no sportsman spirit. They would once again be shamed in front of the world. I think our stance was bang on. Our PCB chairman has taken the right stand. Overall, it's outstanding." He added, “I have always said that players should be great ambassadors and not an embarrassment. I don't want to fault the Indian cricketers; they were given orders from up above." Afridi also pointed out Surya shaking hands with Agha and Naqvi before the tournament, and said, "The same Suryakumar Yadav shook hands with Salman Agha and Mohsin Naqvi at the captain's press conference. Now in front of the crowd, the government was not able to handle the social media pressure. Indian players have now become an embarrassment in front of the world.”
