Team India has displayed its dominance by winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand in the finals. This is their third ICC Champions Trophy title and the first since 2013. India's bowlers, after having asked to bowl first, delivered an outstanding performance to restrict Bangladesh to 228 runs. Towhid Hridoy was the lone warrior for Bangladesh, as he scored a century and he was assisted by Jaker Ali. Mohammed Shami led India's bowling lineup with a magical five-wicket haul. In response, India easily chased the target with 21 balls to spare. India's best bowler in the game against Pakistan was Kuldeep Yadav who picked up three wickets. But a gutsy 79 from Shreyas Iyer, along with some useful contributions from Axar Patel (42) and Hardik Pandya (45), helped India to post a competitive score of 249 runs. Varun Chakravarthy was the hero with the ball for India, claiming a five-wicket haul that tore apart New Zealand's batting order. The Aussies, though they were missing a few of their important players, fought hard. Australian captain Steve Smith won the toss and chose to bat first and posted a fighting total of 264 runs. Smith himself played an important knock of 73 runs, while Alex Carey added 61. India’s chase was well-paced, led by Virat Kohli’s crucial 84-run innings. KL Rahul provided stability with a quick 42 off 34 balls, and Hardik Pandya played a finishing role, guiding India to victory. With this win, India secured their place in the final. Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips also added crucial 37 and 34 runs respectively. India's pursuit began tentatively, with the openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill displaying solid platform. Rohit scored 76 off 83, while Shubman Gill 31 off 50 before a Glenn Phillips took an unreal catch to dismiss India's vice-captain. Virat Kohli's innings lasted for just 2 balls and his wicket brought sudden silence in the stadium. Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel kept the scoreboard ticking for India before Mitchell Santner scalped his wicket for 48 off 52 and soon, Axar too lost his wicket after scoring 29, putting India in trouble. However, KL Rahul's classy innings of 34, accompanied by Hardik's 18 off 17 and a finish with a four from Jadeja (9*) guided India to a four-wicket win.
