India A had been cleared of all allegations regarding the ball-tampering against Australia A in Mackay. It was on day four of the trial match when the Indian wicketkeeper, Ishan Kishan, entered in the verbal scuffle with the umpire, Shawn Craig, regarding a few scratches on the playing ball. Ishan Kishan was involved in verbal arguments with Craig, complaining that the match ball has been changed overnight due to scratches. The argument had delayed the start of the match on Sunday at the Great Barrier Reef Arena. The conversation was overheard via the stump mic, which heard Craig ordering, "When you scratch it, we change the ball. No more discussion; let's play." After a short verbal duel, the umpire warned Kishan: “Excuse me. You’ll be on report for dissent. “That’s inappropriate behaviour. “It is because of your actions we changed the ball.” Australia A clarified Cricket Australia later came to the front, clarifying that the match ball was changed due to deterioration. It falls under customary law 41.3.4. The CA statement says: Both teams’ captains and managers were informed of the decision prior to the start of play. No further action is being taken. Not only that, the Australia A captain, Nathan McSweeney, informed me that he had no idea about the incident. He was at the striker's end and "didn’t notice any change in the ball personally." Nevertheless, Australia A defeated the guests by 7 wickets. They chased 225 runs, having McSweeney and all-rounder Beau Webster smashing fifties. On Thursday, the second match will be played at the MCG.
