The captain of the Indian Test team was released from Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata on November 16 after dealing with some neck spasms, and he’s been with the Indian squad at ITC Sonar since then. He’s expected to join the team flying to Guwahati on November 19, but it’s still unclear if he’ll be able to play. The medical team from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) along with local doctors are keeping a close eye on Gill’s recovery. The selectors and team management are in regular contact, eager for him to participate in the second Test against South Africa, but they’re not going to rush his return. A final decision on whether he’ll play will be made the day before the match. Squad strengthened with Nitish Reddy Nitish Kumar Reddy has also rejoined the Indian squad in Kolkata. Initially part of the team, he was released to play for India A instead. He was in Rajkot, gearing up for the third and final one-day match against South Africa A when the BCCI called him back.
