On Friday, November 21, South Africa revealed their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming matches against India, which will take place after the Test series wraps up next week in Guwahati. The Proteas are gearing up to face the Men in Blue in three ODIs across Ranchi, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam from November 30 to December 6. Following that, they'll dive into a five-match T20I series from December 9 to 19, with games scheduled in Cuttack, New Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad. Temba Bavuma, who is currently captaining South Africa in the Test series against India, will also lead the team in the ODIs. On the other hand, the talented Aiden Markram is set to take the reins for the T20I matches. South Africa's head coach, Shukri Conrad, emphasized the importance of the upcoming T20I series, noting that it will serve as a crucial opportunity for his team to gear up for next year's T20 World Cup, which India is co-hosting alongside Sri Lanka. While Conrad expressed that they will miss the services of star bowler Kagiso Rabada, he is eager to see which players will rise to the occasion in his absence. “It's also really good to welcome Anrich back into the T20I side after he missed the previous tours through injury. We know exactly what he brings so we’re really looking forward to working with him," Conrad stated. Anrich Nortje, who hasn't donned the South African jersey since the 2024 T20 World Cup final against India, has made a comeback in the squad for the T20 format. Conrad is excited about the return of the seasoned pacer. Although the 50-over World Cup is set for 2027, Conrad believes that the ODI series against India will provide valuable insights into the team's current standing.
