The All India Men's Senior Selection Committee has announced the Indian team for the upcoming three-match One-Day International series against South Africa. KL Rahul has been made captain, while the injured captain Shubman Gill has been replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad in the 15-member squad. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have headlined the batting unit for the upcoming series. This clarifies that Shubman Gill is not completely fit to take part in the 50-over leg, after missing out in the Guwahati Test as well. He had suffered a neck spasm during the first Test in Kolkata that ruled him out to take any further part in the match. After being hospitalized, the BCCI has now confirmed that Gill won't participate in the ODIs, although an update on the T20I squad is currently awaited. Significantly, the Men in Blue have also welcomed back Rishabh Pant into the ODI set-up after the left-handed batter had been dropped after the Champions Trophy 2025. He will be playing in the series as the first choice wicketkeeper too, while Dhruv Jurel has been kept as a back-up for him. Tilak Varma is another middle-order option with India for this series. The likes of Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy are the all-rounders in the side, whereas Ravindra Jadeja, who was ignored for the ODIs against Australia, has made a comeback too. Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna will take care of the pace attack, as both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have been given a repose.
