The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has deployed langurs and their handlers to ensure that no monkey snatches food items during the second Test match between India and Bangladesh which is being played at Kanpur's Green Park Stadium. Venue director Sanjay Kapoor said that camera operators in the stands are most at risk of having their snacks and drinks taken by monkeys. Kapoor said, “To avoid the terror of monkeys, we have langurs (long-tailed leaf monkeys) to take care of them,” In the past, Langurs have been hired for international cricket matches in Kanpur. The stand behind the boundary where the TV crew places cameras was covered with black cloth on the back and sides to stop monkeys from reaching for foods. The upper block in the stand, holding 4,800 people, sparked fears regarding safety and hence forced the authorities to close it on Tuesday. IND vs BAN 2nd Test: Play Stopped due to Bad Light The 2nd test match between IND and BAN started a bit late due to rain, but India chose to bowl first in the cloudy weather. Bangladesh scored 107/3 before the umpires took the players off the field again because of bad light in the second session. In the second test match, Akash Deep started really well as he first dismissed Zakir Hasan. A few overs later, he then got his second wicket of Shadman Islam. Bangladesh went well till lunch, but Ashwin took the first wicket in this match by removing captain Najmul Shanto after lunch. India so far currently leads with 1-0 in this two-Test series, and will be keen to win the second match to ensure a clean sweep. Indian players next move on to Test matches against New Zealand in coming month.
