He said the new ball had a lot of bite, that his spin worked really well on that surface even though it is quite tricky to bat on. Ashwin said: "Winning this game was important for us. It was a massive win for us in the context of the WTC. When we bowled them out yesterday, it was a little after lunch. Rohit was keen that we needed 80 overs to bowl at them. He said even if we get bowled out for 230, it's okay. He set the tone with the way he stepped out first ball." The Indians chased down their target of 95 in 17.2 overs with a quickfire 51 from Yashasvi Jaiswal that earned him the Player of the Match. Despite over 200 overs going unrecovered as rains intervened, this seemed like an impeccable match for India, ensuring a place firmly in the top of the WTC points table.
