Cricket Australia declared that Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out for the rest of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Scott Boland, who was Hazlewood's replacement in the second Test, thus, will come in for the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne, starting on December 26. Cricket Australia has issued a statement saying that Hazlewood has succumbed to a calf injury, due to which he won't take part in the rest of the BGT. The statement says, “Josh Hazlewood has sustained a right sided calf strain which will prevent him from playing any further part in Test match against India in Brisbane. He sustained the injury during the warm-up this morning and after bowling one over was unable to continue. He is likely to miss the remainder of the Test series. A squad replacement will be made in due course." Later, it was revealed that he went through strain in his calf during the warm-ups before the game started. He arrived on the field later than expected after a discussion with head coach Andrew McDonald and physio Nick Jones. Following that, he bowled a single over with noticeable caution before leaving the ground. Hazlewood missed the second test at Adelaide due to a side strain. Scott Bolland came in his place and claimed altogether 5 wickets at Adelaide.
