Punjab Kings (PBKS) pair Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer played stunning centuries as India A thrashed Australia A in the recalculated ODI on Wednesday, October 1 at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. Australia A opted to field first after winning the toss, an option that swiftly boomeranged against them. The openers started the innings with Arya being partnered by Prabhsimran Singh to establish a strong platform, scoring 135 runs for the first wicket. Arya played a masterful innings, with 101 runs from 84 balls, including 11 boundaries and five sixes, before getting out to Tanveer Sangha. His aggressive style of play paved the way for the remaining batting line-up and provided the hosts with a strong position early in the innings. In the latter part of the innings, India A captain kept hammering the Australian bowling unit. Iyer contributed a magnificent 110 off 83 balls with 12 boundaries and four sixes. His showing, along with contributions from the remainder of the top order, brought India A to within a 400-run score and identified vulnerabilities in Australia A's bowling unit. The first ODI, originally set to take place on September 30, was rescheduled after incessant rains provided the teams with a new beginning the following day. India A went on to achieve a commanding 413 for 6 in their 50 overs. Prabhsimran contributed to Arya with a 56 off 53 deliveries, but the middle order came into play, with Riyan Parag making 67 of 42 deliveries and Ayush Badoni chipping in with a breezy 50 of 27 deliveries. Five total batters reached the fifty-run barrier, which showcased India A's depth and dominance. For Australia A, captain Will Sutherland picked 2 wickets for 73 runs in his nine-over spell, while Tom Straker, Liam Scott, Todd Murphy, and Tanveer Sangha grabbed one each. Though they tried their best, none of the bowlers managed to contain the run flow properly. With Yudhvir Singh Charak, Gurjapneet Singh, Simarjeet Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi handling the bowling duties, Iyer & Co. presented the Australians with a challenging target of 414 runs to chase.
