Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma were dismissed cheaply during the third unofficial ODI of the series between Australia A and India A at Green Park in Kanpur on October 5. The two contributed significantly to India's Asia Cup 2025 title-winning streak recently. Australia A captain Jack Edwards made 89 from 75 as his team accumulated 316 in 49.1 overs. The opening batsman along with Abhishek, Prabhsimran Singh was the aggressor in the top partnership. Abhishek was the initial wicket to fall, retiring after scoring 22 off 25 deliveries after being sent back by Todd Murphy. India A's total at the wicket fall was 83/1 in 11.2 overs. Tilak (3 off 6) was also dismissed soon afterwards as Murphy delivered in back-to-back overs. Abhishek got caught by Tanveer Sangha whereas Tilak was trapped in front. Tilak also performed well, with his pre-final scores being DNB, 31, 29, 30*, 5 and 49*. He left the best for the last when his calm unbeaten 53-ball 69 on Pakistan in the final showdown and received the Player of the Match award. Abhishek and Tilak also featured in the second unofficial ODI. Abhishek, however, went for a golden duck, which was disappointing. Tilak, however, sparkled with an 122-ball 94. The left-handed batsman's innings included five fours and four sixes. India A, however, lost the match by nine wickets (DLS). They reached 160/1 in 16.4 overs following the game being reduced to a 25-overs-a-side. Meanwhile, the senior men's team is set to travel to Australia for white-ball series, including a three ODIs and five T20Is. The squads for the white-ball series have been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returning to international cricket after 2025 Champions Trophy.
