Social media was filled with the news reports that former Pakistani Prime Minister and the world cup winning captain of Pakistan Imran Khan was killed in the custody. A video depicting Khan bleeding and being rescued by guards quickly spread on platforms such as WhatsApp and X (formerly Twitter). However, these reports are entirely untrue. The Truth Behind the Video and Rumors The clip that is in circulating on social media is old. It happened in 2013, when Imran Khan was injured when he fell from a forklift at the time of addressing an election rally in Lahore. The Times of India reported that Khan was lifted onto a platform when he jumped from a level of around 15 feet and struck his head. He had been injured during that time, but he had recovered subsequently. Even though the video is more than 10 years old, it has surfaced again and is incorrectly being displayed as a recent attack. Most people thought the event occurred recently because of how popular it was shared on WhatsApp. Certain posts went even further, making more severe false accusations by stating that the Army Chief of Pakistan, General Asim Munir, had orchestrated Khan's alleged death. Others claimed that the ISI (Pakistan's spy agency) had poisoned him within Adiala Jail. An alleged press release is also circulating online, which states that the Government of Pakistan confirmed Khan's death in custody. The Pakistan Observer ensured that between May 4–9, 2025, Imran Khan is alive and still in prison. He is also very much engaged in legal affairs, including requesting a bail through his lawyers.
