Recently, Australian cricket has witnessed some big names such as all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis and star batter Steve Smith hanging up their boots in the 50-over format. As Australia turns its attention to the 2027 ODI World Cup, another all-rounder, Tim David, has discussed his uncertain One-Day International (ODI) future. Tim David, well established in T20 cricket, does not see himself going back to the ODI format soon. He conceded that it is not part of his plans at this moment. Talking about his future, David stated that he's having talks with his coaches but for now, he is completely committed to the coming T20 World Cup and the hectic schedule that lies ahead. David said: "Definitely having conversations in the background with my coaches, and people that I want to talk to about my game at the moment. I'm not too sure, to be honest. It's not the immediate plan. We've got such a busy year, to be honest, leading up to this T20 World Cup." Previously, I would have been away for four or five months in a row over the winter playing competitions. And now we've got so many T20 series that there's not much time to think about much else. So we'll see how that develops. But, at the moment, no plans." David's ODI career has been extremely brief. He has played only four ODIs for Australia, amassing 45 runs and conceding one wicket. His one-day experience in domestic cricket is also limited, with just one match for Tasmania in 2021. Following Australia's premature exit from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Steve Smith retired from ODIs as well. This opened up space in the team for the next generation of players, as the team undergoes the process of change leading up to the next major tournament.
