Indian opener Shubman Gill recently expressed his admiration for batting alongside Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, referring to them as two of the greatest players in the 50-over format. As India gears up for the ICC Champions Trophy final, Gill also spoke about the batting depth of the current Indian team. "I think Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are all-time one-day greats. Rohit bhai is one of the best openers in white-ball cricket, and as for Virat bhai, I don’t think I need to say much. He is one of the best ODI batters ever. I’m batting in between the two," said Gill. Gill emphasized that the depth in India’s batting lineup allows the top order to play with more freedom and less pressure. "The depth in our batting helps free up the batters at the top. We can play freely because we know we have the depth," he added. Typically, Jadeja comes in at number eight, adding a robust cushion to the batting order. "Batting depth is one thing we used to struggle with earlier. We didn’t have the depth, which meant the top order was under pressure to score more and stay longer. But now, the depth allows us to play more freely," Gill explained. The young opener also shared insights into his approach to batting, stating that he prefers to remain in his zone and take calculated risks to provide those extra 15 to 20 runs for the team. "I think it’s more about being in my zone and taking calculated risks. I take more risks at the right point, when I feel the bowler is under pressure," he said. Gill has been in good form lately, having scored a century against Bangladesh. So far, he has amassed 157 runs in four matches in the tournament. As India faces New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final, the team will be looking to Gill for yet another special performance.
