In the latest development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended Zimbabwe’s 19-year-old young women all-rounder Kelis Ndhlovu from bowling after being reported for suspected illegal bowling action by the match officials. The incident took place during the first ODI match against Ireland Women in Belfast on 26 July, and she underwent the assessment in Pretoria, South Africa. Furthermore, ICC released an official statement informing the same. In their official statement, ICC said: “The decision regarding Kelis Ndhlovu of the Zimbabwe women’s team came after an independent assessment confirmed that the left-arm spinner uses an illegal bowling action.” Therefore, according to Article 6.1 of the Bowling Regulations, Ndhlovu’s suspension will remain firm unless she comes up with a modified bowling action and clears her re-assessment test. Ndhlovu made her debut for Zimbabwe Women in T20I against Namibia Women at Windhoek in April 2022. She played her first ODI against Thailand Women in Bangkok a year later. She was the skipper of Zimbabwe Women during the inaugural ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in 2023. The Zimbabwe Women’s team are gearing up to participate in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Region Division One Qualifier, where they'll take on Namibia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. The 19-year-old all-rounder has featured in 13 ODIs and 51 T20Is, where she has taken 19 and 44 wickets respectively. Apart from the wickets, she has scored 1014 runs across both formats. On the other hand, Zimbabwe's men's team are gearing up for a white-ball series against Sri Lanka. They will be playing two ODIs and three T20Is, with the ODI series starting from Friday, August 29, at the iconic Harare Sports Club.
