South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been given one demerit point for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia in Darwin on Tuesday. The violation took place during the 17th over of Australia's massive chase when Bosch got rid of Ben Dwarshuis and then gestured towards the dugout as the batter returned. Bosch pleaded the offence and accepted the penalty without requiring a full hearing. It was his first international cricket offence, in only his 11th game for South Africa. Bosch had indeed breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which protects against "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match." He ended the innings with the figures of 3 for 20 from his three overs, and his wicket of Dwarshuis was one of the highlights. The other Proteas player of the day was Dewald Brevis, who hammered an unbeaten 125 off just 56 balls which took South Africa to a mammoth total of 218 for 7. In his innings of 125 runs, the young gun hammered 12 fours and eight sixes and he also became the player with the highest T20I score for South Africa. In response, Australia could not gain traction and were losing wickets at frequent intervals. Bosch and youngster Kwena Maphaka each took three wickets, as the hosts were dismissed for 165. The victory was a befitting response in the wake of South Africa's collapse in the batting in the first T20I. With the series now level, both teams will enter their final game in Cairns on Saturday with the goal of winning the trophy. The T20I series will be followed by a three-match ODI series between the sides.
