His lack of runs has led to criticism from both fans and former cricketers. However, Indian coach Gautam Gambhir came to Sharma’s defense, stating that the team management evaluates players not merely on numbers but on the impact they bring to the game. Indian opener Shubman Gill continues to dominate the charts, holding onto his top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings. Pakistan’s Babar Azam and South Africa’s Heinrich Klaasen occupy the second and third positions, respectively. Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran, who smashed a century against England recently, has moved 13 spots to occupy the 10th position. In the ODI bowling rankings, Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana remains the top-ranked bowler. For India, Mohammad Shami has climbed three places to reach the 11th spot, thanks to his performance in the Champions Trophy. Kuldeep Yadav, the only Indian in the top 10 of the bowling rankings, has dropped three places and now sits in sixth place. Axar Patel moves 17 spots One of the biggest movers in the latest rankings is India’s all-rounder Axar Patel. Patel has jumped 17 places to secure the 13th spot in the ODI all-rounder rankings. Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai has taken over the top spot from his teammate Mohammad Nabi. Patel has been a bright spot for India in the Champions Trophy. He has notched up 80 runs and has taken four wickets in his four appearances. With the final against New Zealand approaching, the Indian team will be counting on Patel’s current form to help them lift the trophy.
