A five-member delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) will visit Karachi on Tuesday to monitor arrangements for the Champions Trophy next year, which will take place in Pakistan. The members include some key officers handling events, security and other engagements of cricket. Andy Atkinson, one official responsible for pitches, has already been to Pakistan thrice since April. The ICC officials during their visit will discuss the tournament schedule that Pakistan Cricket Board had forwarded to them earlier. They will also discuss what will happen if the Indian government does not allow fans from that country to travel to Pakistan. The source said: "The tentative schedule is important because it involves the Indian team being based in Lahore and playing all their matches in the city." It will survey all ongoing construction work in the city of Karachi and check which hotels they will be staying in. It will do the same in Islamabad and Lahore after Karachi. The source said: "The delegation which includes their ICC Security Manager would also get briefings from security officials in Pakistan." The ICC will also finalize and announce the tournament schedule. The PCB is committed to strongly showcase our venues: Spokesperson of PCB The $65 million committed by the ICC for the Champions Trophy, to be played from February 19 through March 9, 2025, will be eagerly used by Pakistan in its desire to present itself as fully prepared for the event, though the uncertainty surrounding Indian participation lingers, and a hybrid model will be discussed-much like the hybrid model of last year's Asia Cup where Indian matches might be played elsewhere if need be. Everyone waits breathlessly as the ICC delegation leaves for home on September 21. Their report will be very important in deciding whether Pakistan is ready to host this major cricket event.
