He expressed some concerns about these Indian batting giants, suggesting that the conditions in Australia might further highlight their recent difficulties. Speaking on Wide World of Sports' Outside the Rope, Chappell noted that the challenging conditions in Australia could potentially add to their struggles. Ian Chappell said: "The only thing I'd say against that is they're coming to Australia where the pitches are pretty good, but there'll be the extra bounce and if they have gone over the top then the extra bounce will find them out." Chappell expressed his faith in India’s emerging talent, commending Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. However, he noted that the underwhelming form and performance of the senior batters could be putting significant pressure on them. He further said: "India have got some batting problems. I think Jaiswal is a very good-looking young player, a left-hand opener, I think Gill can really play. But then you've got Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who are both aging, and you get to that point where people start talking about it and maybe it starts to creep into your head a little bit, 'Am I getting to that age where it starts to go downhill?', and they're both at that age." India's hopes for reaching the World Test Championship final hinges on the upcoming five-match series beginning on November 22 in Perth.
