Ben Duckett has confessed he was out of order throughout the Ashes series in Australia. England endured a chastening series on their Australian tour, losing the series 4-1, and Duckett has conceded he was "stupid" by his actions. The 31-year-old was captured on camera post-second Test defeat in December, a game in which England were already 2-0 down, and it was reported he was under the influence during the break. Duckett told reporters: "I've held my hands up since then. It’s not something any professional sportsman ‌should be doing. We were having a break that was planned before the series and if ‌we were winning it probably wouldn’t have been ‌news and nobody would have cared." He Added: “We were struggling as a side and I was struggling as a player so I shouldn’t have put myself in a position like that.” He thanked captain Ben Stokes, coach Brendon McCullum and managing director Rob Key for their support and admitted his Ashes form was not good enough. He only scored 202 runs throughout the series at a miserable average of 20.20, and did not feature in the T20 World Cup squad in India after England suffered defeat in the semi-final against Pakistan. Duckett said: "I wasn't proud of how things went in Australia. But I've been good during my career in acknowledging when I've got it wrong and hopefully, moving forward, people will see how much playing for England means." CSK Gets Big Blow Duckett Explains IPL Decision and England Focus Duckett's pull out of the IPL season has been another talking point of late. He was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore in the auction and decided to opt out of the competition four days before the season began. The left-hander was quoted as saying that he now intends to solely play for England and focus on improving his game. He said: “For me pulling out of the IPL, turning down a good chunk of money and missing the opportunity to play with and against some of the best players in the world to be here playing for Notts (Nottinghamshire) is a step in the right direction to ‌show how important playing for England is." Duckett is currently plying his trade for Nottinghamshire as he prepares for the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand beginning in June. His decision displays an eagerness to address his recent indiscretions and a strong commitment to his international career with England. England will no doubt be eager for Duckett to get back among the runs against New Zealand.
