Dwayne Bravo believes he brings a different style of leadership and mentoring compared to Gautam Gambhir as he takes on the role of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) mentor ahead of IPL 2025. Bravo stepped into the position after Gambhir left to become the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. Under Gambhir’s guidance, KKR ended their 10-year trophy drought by securing the IPL 2024 title under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer. While Bravo is confident about replicating that success, he acknowledges that his approach differs from Gambhir’s. "I think GG had his style, I have my style. We're both successful in our own ways. Definitely, I messaged him a few times and stuff. But again, I will be leaning a lot on these guys because they had a successful formula," Bravo was quoted as saying by PTI. Despite a few changes in the squad, Bravo is optimistic about the season as the team managed to maintain the core. "I think it's going to be disrespectful of me not to try and find out some of the good things he did last season. But also, the core of the team is here,” he said. One significant change for KKR is the departure of Shreyas Iyer, who will now captain Punjab Kings. Meanwhile, experienced batter Ajinkya Rahane will lead the defending champions in the upcoming season. 'When SRK bought TKR, I was one of the happiest persons on the planet' Bravo is also looking forward to working with Bollywood superstar and KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan once again. "In the CPL, I started off with the Trinbago Knight Riders when SRK bought the team, and I was one of the happiest persons on the planet to know that someone like him showed an interest to buy a team - not only in the Caribbean, but my hometown," Bravo said. He also added that he would be willing to bring in the same energy and vibe from TKR to KKR. "I was able to help build the Trinbago Knight Riders into the most successful franchise in CPL history. That energy and that vibe, I'm going to try to bring that here as well." With three IPL titles to their name, KKR is the third most successful franchise in the tournament’s history. Bravo believes the team already has a strong foundation to build upon. "It's already a successful team, we have the third-most trophies in the cabinet. We are looking to build on that, and I think with a squad like this, we have every opportunity to do so," he added. The defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22 at Eden Gardens.
