Former India cricketer and current Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir has filed a police complaint after allegedly receiving death threats via email from an account linked to "ISIS Kashmir". As per reports on India Today, Gambhir received two chilling emails on April 22, one in the afternoon and another in the evening, with both messages stating: "I kill you." The Delhi Police have acknowledged the complaint and are investigating the matter. The former MP approached the Rajendra Nagar Police Station, requesting the registration of an FIR and urging authorities to ensure his family’s safety. DCP Central Delhi and SHO Rajinder Nagar confirmed that the threat is being taken seriously and that a probe has been initiated. The cyber cell has begun work to trace the email’s source, although a formal FIR had not been registered at the time of reporting. 'Those responsible will pay': Gambhir reacts after Kashmir attack Just a day before receiving the threats, Gambhir had taken to social media to strongly condemn the recent terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam. In one of the deadliest incidents since the Pulwama strike of 2019, terrorists opened fire at tourists in the Baisaran meadow, leaving 26 people dead. “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike,” Gambhir posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. The attack was reportedly carried out by the Resistance Front, an offshoot of the banned terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba. Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam — Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) April 22, 2025 Gambhir, a vocal critic of terrorism, has previously raised his voice against such acts, both during and after his political career. With the IPL 2025 underway and national players are largely on break. Gambhir, who recently returned from a family vacation in France, has kept a low profile since India’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in March. India will be returning to international action in June, where they will tour England for a five-match Test series.
