Ryan Rickelton has continued his excellent form in IPL 2026. Playing for Mumbai Indians the left-hander scored 83 off just 42 deliveries in the Mumbai Indians chase of Lucknow Super Giants 229 runs. It was a wonderful knock to help the Indians secure a thrilling win over LSG at the Wankhede. From the off Rickelton looked to be on a mission as he smashed the bowlers all around the park. He hit 6 fours and 8 sixes and helped Mumbai get off to a quick start and a massive 143-run opening partnership with Rohit Sharma. The Indians went on to chase the 229-run target by six wickets with just 18.4 overs to spare. Despite the impressive knock however it was a hilarious post-match incident with teammate Quinton de Kock that stole the show after the match. I just really want to try to represent this team globally as well but this team in general Mumbai Indians. So, it's always healthy competition. We're very supportive of each other. I mean he was the first person to absolutely abuse me tonight saying I threw away a hundred which I agree with. So, yeah he's very supportive Rickelton said after the match to some media representatives referring to de Kock's humorous remarks on his performance. Rickelton also elaborated on the pressure that he feels due to the presence of such a big player in the form of de Kock on the bench at the start of the season. Rickelton explained: "It's been tricky I suppose to have a guy of Quinny's calibre sitting on the bench at the start of the season. It was tricky to manage mentally because maybe you're burning yourself with a bit more pressure to do well because you have a guy who's flipping good sitting behind you, and the whole world's screaming to pick him." Strong form in 2026 continues Rickelton has been a standout player for the Indians this season scoring 380 runs in 8 innings at a strike rate of 190.95 including a century and is often notching scores in the 30s or 40s. Despite the stiff competition with his countryman de Kock for the opening spot, the pair has always had a good rapport both of them being the preferred openers for the South African national side. The Mumbai Indians face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru next in the IPL 2026 on May 10th at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur. They will be hoping that Rickelton's sensational form continues in the match.
