South Africa captain Temba Bavuma feels that the logistics could have been handled better during the ongoing Champions Trophy. With India playing all their matches in Dubai, there was uncertainty regarding the semifinal venue until the final league game between India and New Zealand. The outcome of that match determined not only the semifinalists but also the venue of the clash. Both South Africa and Australia had initially flown to Dubai to prepare for their potential semifinal matches. However, when India secured the top spot in the table by defeating New Zealand, South Africa had to quickly change plans and fly back to Lahore within a day to get ready for their semifinal match. Reflecting on the situation ahead of the semifinal, Bavuma acknowledged the logistical hurdles: "I think probably logistically things could have been, I guess, more efficient. We definitely don’t use that as an excuse in terms of our preparation or anything like that. Our mind is geared to what we need to do.” Bavuma also highlighted how the players utilized their time. "Some of the boys played some golf, some of the boys went for some sightseeing. So, I guess it was quite enjoyable from that perspective. For other guys it was just another day to recover. So yeah, guys made use of it as best as they could. We're here now. We're here in Lahore." "Kane Williamson has always been a thorn. We have plans against him. I obviously won't release what those plans are. But I think, like any top player on any top side, you know that as a team you've got to raise your intensity," Bavuma said. He also praised his team's bowling attack and believes that the match against New Zealand would be a balanced contest. "We're also quite confident in our bowling attack. So, I think, it'll be a good show and offering between the two bowling attacks. I don't think there's a lot between the two bowling attacks. It will be up to whoever shows up and executes based on the day." South Africa and New Zealand will battle it out in the second semifinal on Wednesday, with the winner set to face India in the final of the Champions Trophy. Notably, the South African team have reached the final in the Men's and Women's T20 World Cups, the Women's U19 World Cup, and the World Test Championship. Bavuma and his team will be eager to add another final appearance to the growing list.
