Mohammed Siraj has been the stand-out performer this season for the Gujarat Titans. The pacer has picked up nine wickets in his four matches with an economy rate of 7.75. He is currently on the list of leading wicket-takers for IPL 2025, only behind Noor Ahmad, who has picked up ten wickets. Siraj was at his absolute best in GT’s recent win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, which earned him the Player of the Match award. He ended with an exceptional spell of 4 for 17 in four overs. Reflecting on his performance at his home ground, Siraj spoke about the special feeling of delivering in front of his family. “When you come to your home ground, it is a different feeling. Family is also watching, and that also gives you confidence,” he said during the post-match chat with the commentators. Siraj began his IPL journey with Sunrisers Hyderabad before spending seven seasons with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Speaking about his stint with RCB, the pacer said it was a mixed experience. “With RCB, I had played seven years there, there were ups and downs,” he said. Even in Jasprit Bumrah’s absence, the pacer wasn’t picked for the tournament, which India eventually won. “To be honest, at the start, I couldn't digest it. I reached a point when I had to convince my mind that my cricket is not over. I have bigger plans. Okay, this [Champions Trophy] was not in my destiny, but what can I do now?” Siraj said. While the snub did hurt him, Siraj decided to focus on his fitness during the break. “I got my mindset right, I worked on my fitness. I was playing non-stop, so I didn't have time to reflect on what mistakes had crept into my game. Now I am enjoying my bowling. The body is fresh, I am not overthinking, I am staying in the present,” he added. Gujarat Titans will next face Rajasthan Royals on April 9, and Siraj will once again be crucial to their bowling attack as GT look to grab the top spot.
