Australian star pacer Mitchell Starc has opted out of the Champions Trophy for personal reasons, and his wife Alyssa Healy confirmed that she is unaware of the reasons. Moreover, she added that several reports claimed she was pregnant, which is absolutely wrong. Speaking to the Willow Talk Podcast, Healy said "Don't look at me. I don't know. I haven't asked him yet. He will be alright. Yeah, he went to Sri Lanka as well, did that leg of a tour. He is fine, everyone. I am more importantly. Had some reports suggested that I'm pregnant, but I can guarantee that I am not. So.. yeah, we are fine." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Willow Talk (@willowtalkpodcast) Unlike Josh Hazlewood or Pat Cummins, who are suffering from injury issues, Mitchell Starc cited personal reasons to sit and opted out of the Champions Trophy. Even though the reasons are not made clear, it is quite expected that the big man needs rest. Since the Border Gavaskar Trophy, he has been a constant face for Australia. In the 5-match Test series, he bowled around 153 overs tirelessly and then toured Sri Lanka for the Test and ODI series. Australia's chief selector, George Bailey, too extended support to Starc, saying he feels Starc's issue. He had said, "We understand and respect Mitch's decision. Mitch is deeply respected for his commitment to international cricket and the priority he places on performing for Australia. His well-documented ability to play through pain and adversity, as well as forgoing opportunities in other parts of his career to put his country first, should be applauded. His loss is of course a blow for the Champions Trophy campaign but does provide an opportunity to someone else to make a mark on the tournament." Even former Australia skipper Aaron Finch sounded empathetic to Starc's cause. He also took Cummin's reference, saying that drawing them into the tournament after a heavy summer would be toxic for their body. Apart from the pace trio, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis announced his retirement from ODIs before the final squad selection. Australia’s pace attack now features Sean Abbott, Spencer Johnson, Ben Dwarshuis, and Nathan Ellis.
