Anuj Rawat, the 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter from Delhi, has been in great touch opening the batting for East Delhi Riders in the Delhi Premier League (DPL). Anuj has been one of the main reasons his side leads the league table with 16 points and secured a semifinal berth. He has represented Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Now, his priority is to win the tournament for East Delhi Riders and do well in the coming domestic season for Delhi. In an interview with CricketNext, Anuj said: “I want to help my team win the DPL. As a senior player, it is very important for me to do well and gain confidence here and then take it to the upcoming domestic season and perform well there for Delhi." He further added: "I am opening in the DPL, so I need to give my team a good start. I know that I did well at the end of the inning, but it was important to start well at the top as well. I am aware that this thing will help me improve my game." Anuj wants to get a chance to one day represent India. Given his good performance, he might make it into some national team someday. Anuj likes opening the innings, but at times, he has batted in the middle order and sometimes as a finisher. Being able to bat at various spots, he feels, is what makes him unique and shall bring him success in cricket. He said: "If you ask me as an established batter, I would like to open the innings, but I have played in different positions. Be it as an opener, in the middle order, or as a finisher even. And I think this thing separates me from others. If you see when an opener is asked to bat in the middle order, he struggles to create the same impact, but that’s not the case with me. In the last 2-3 years, I have prepared myself in such a way that I can produce the same impact in whichever position I am asked to bat." While Anuj had opened the batting for RCB in the IPL 2022, in 2024, he left his mark as a finisher. Also Read | Top 5 Fights in IPL Cricket History that Created Headlines
