Former Indian batter Kedar Jadhav predicted that India will surely back out from the match against Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup. Previously in the World Championship of Legends, the India Champions boycotted the match against the Pakistan Champions due to the growing geopolitical tensions between the two countries. Even though the Emirates cricket Board downplayed such possibilities, Kedar jadav feels that India should and will boycott the match. In an interview with ANI, Jadav said, “I think the Indian team should not play at all. As far as India is concerned, I think that wherever India plays, it will always win, but this match should not be played at all. This match should not be played at all, and even if it is, we will not play it—I can bet on it.” Notably, the Asia Cup 2025 is commencing on September 9. The high-profile match between India and Pakistan will be played on Spetember 14, at Dubai. The team even applied for the visas in late July; however, the Pakistan Government restricted the proceedings, citing that no team is allowed to travel to India. Last Wednesday, a Hockey India official confirmed to The Hindu that the Pakistan Hockey Federation has pulled out from the tournament, excusing security issues. Even though India has invited Bangladesh, PHF lost a chance for the 2026 World Cup qualification. Notably, the tournament was supposed to be hosted in Rajgir, Bihar. The cross-border tension between the two countries has been so much that the two teams did not agree to tour, leading to major cricket tournaments being shifted to the UAE. India played all their matches in the 2025 Champions Trophy in the UAE. Even in the Asia Cup Cricket, India,, despite being the official host, has the UAE hosting the matches. Prior to the Champions Trophy dilemma, both India and Pakistan came to an agreement to not host each other in a cricket match in their own land till 2028. Asia Cup being a short tournament, the entire thing has been shifted to the UAE.
