To prepare for his debut Test series in England, Nitish Kumar Reddy took assistance from his Indian Premier League (IPL) connections. He had been in good form during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, which paved the way for his selection for the tour of England. Reddy understood that in order to retain his position in the side, he needed to play even better in the conditions of England. Thus, prior to the England tour, Reddy talked to his Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, Pat Cummins, and sought advice on how to play in England. Cummins informed him that the English weather conditions play a significant part and described how bowlers need to adapt as per those conditions. During the post-day press meet, Reddy said: “I just asked him (Pat Cummins, his captain at Sunrisers Hyderabad) what's the difference between Australia and England since this is my first tour and he said that it's not going to be like a change but you watch about the weather conditions and just play your game." He added: “You will get to know because obviously I am going to play two India A tour two games, so he said just try to learn as much as you can and you will get on there." Within one over, he dismissed both England openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, giving India an early grip on the match. He also had a candid talk with India's bowling coach Morne Morkel to learn more about bowling in English conditions. Reddy revealed that after the series against Australia, he vowed to become a better bowler. On Thursday, he proved that he had spent considerable efforts on that intention. The all-rounder added: “I have had chats with Morne as well. We are seeing good progression in my bowling, and I am really enjoying working with him." In the 2024–25 Australia series, Reddy bowled 44 overs in five Tests. But he didn't get to bowl much during the IPL preceding the England tour, and therefore some doubted his bowling abilities. But Reddy silenced them in the third Test at Lord's by picking up two wickets in his first over and putting England under pressure.
