India came together to make history by lifting the Women's World Cup 2025, thereby defeating South Africa in the final for the country's first-ever ICC trophy after 48 years of long wait. Among all stars who sparkled in this Indian success was young opener Pratika Rawal, who contributed hugely toward the journey of the team up to the top. In the tournament, Rawal scored 308 runs, becoming India's second highest run-getter. However, an unfortunate injury put a halt to her dream run when she could not participate in the semifinal or final matches. The cruel twist was that, as per the ICC participation rules, her name was not eligible for the winner's medal since she had not featured in the knockout games. This surely would have broken the heart of the young batter. Jay Shah Intervened for Pratika Rawal BCCI Secretary and ICC Chairman Jay Shah ensured that Pratika Rawal received her medal. In an interview with India Today, her father Pradeep Rawal confirmed that Jay had personally called the family. Pradeep Rawal mentioned: "Jay Shah personally texted us and said that he had spoken to the ICC, and that we would receive the medal. Pratika received the medal before meeting Prime Minister Modi. Jay Shah took the initiative himself and personally informed Pratika." It became an unforgettable moment for her and her family when the young opener met Prime Minister Narendra Modi with her World Cup winner's medal on November 5.
