Shubman Gill, the captain of Gujarat Titans, has led the team to the top and is a win away from getting to the top. In such a situation, his captaincy attributes received immense praise from both his teammates and the team director. In a recent interaction with Jiostar, Gill's opening partner, Sai Sudarshan, has labeled him as a supportive teammate. Even with the feather of captaincy, he is never a step back from guiding his mates and supporting them. Sai also added that Gill is naturally a very competitive captain. Speaking to JioStar's GenBold he said, "I've always looked up to Shubman in these three years. If I have difficulty in the nets or difficulty facing somebody, I will have a conversation with him about what he feels I can do better. I've grown a lot because of him and by watching him play. Mentally, he's a very competitive captain." He added, "And I feel he understands what the player needs. He is somebody who will give players who are facing difficulties a comfort zone, where they can come back stronger. We've shared a lot of memories on the field as well. Hopefully, we create lovely memories this season too." On the eve of GT's match against Mumbai Indians, Solanki addressed the press and said, "Shubman Gill has been one of those cricketers who have thrived under the burden of responsibility that comes with leading a side... As far as leadership is concerned, he has really grown into the role of captaincy... When you have somebody as gifted, as talented, as exceptional as Shubman is as a batsman, sometimes you might have concerns about whether the weight of leadership would bear heavily. I don't think that's been the case. You sometimes see that people thrive in such responsibility roles, and Shubman has certainly been that". After the departure of Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill has taken over the captaincy responsibilities since 2024. And in this year, the team has never slipped down below fourth place. In the ongoing IPL 2025 season, Shubman Gill has scored 465 runs across 10 matches, maintaining a strike rate of 162
