Hong Kong has selected a 20-man squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, which will start on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates. They will make their fifth appearance in the tournament, having last played in 2004, 2008, 2018, and 2022. Captain Yasim Murtaza and vice-captain Babar Hayat will lead the team. The team comprises both seasoned players and young players, with Hong Kong looking to leave a solid impression in the competition. Mix of Experience and Youth The team of Hong Kong boasts experienced cricketers such as Anshuman Rath, Nizakat Khan, Aizaz Khan, Ehsan Khan, Kinchit Shah, Ayush Shukla, and Haroon Arshad. Vice-captain Babar Hayat is also of immense experience, one of just two batters to have registered a century in the history of Asia Cup T20, alongside the great Virat Kohli. Head coach Kaushal Silva emphasized the team's competitive nature and ambition. He stated, "Each player has to earn their spot. We are not here to participate; we are here to compete, win games, and enjoy the experience." To get ready for the tournament, Hong Kong will have a training camp in the UAE from August 24. Players will have intense sessions and practice games to work on team bonding and match fitness. They take on Afghanistan on September 9 in Abu Dhabi, then Bangladesh on September 11 at the same location. Their last group-stage match will be against Sri Lanka on September 15 in Dubai. With top sides in their pool, Hong Kong will require solid performances from the senior players and eager input from the young players to progress in the tournament.
