KL Rahul is returning to a locus of familiarity as DC sets out to face the RCB on Thursday. Having once played for the RCB, this is their home ground; where Rahul spent most of his cricketing career, playing displays before his home crowd. The first match of IPL 2025, which he missed due to the birth of his first child, was set to be the turnaround moment for Rahul, who seems to be in great form. He backed up a brisk innings against Sunrisers with a solid 77 against the Chennai Super Kings. And now comes the real test against the RCB, who boast a quality bowling line-up that includes Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. However well Rahul understands the Chinnaswamy conditions, he certainly has not made the best of it as a ground for his batting. Out of 14 innings played at this ground, for example, he has registered only two fifties, scored a strike-rate of 137.91 and averaged 34, including his time with RCB when he had a best of 68 in eight innings played in total there. What is quite interesting is that he has not yet breached the fifty barrier for any of his innings against RCB at the venue. Still, Rahul has a good record against his old team, with 648 runs at an average of 64.80 and a strike rate of 144 against them. His highest T20 score of 132 also came against RCB in Dubai. The Karnataka star, often slammed for being too defensive, is now displaying aggression and looking for boundaries. He admitted that he somehow lost the joy of hitting big shots, but he seems to have regained that joy this season. Rahul will, therefore, want to exploit every bit of his aggression on Thursday while returning home. As another run-fest is expected, Delhi Capitals will welcome their batter to continue his form and lead them toward another triumph.
