Hina Munawar, a police officer with a background in security and operations is appointed as the first female manager of the Pakistan men's cricket team. She took up the new role before one of cricket's biggest events, the Champions Trophy that will commence from 19th February 2025 in Pakistan and UAE. Munawar is a professional with law enforcement experience, who has worked in the high-risk areas and Swat region as well, where she served with the Frontier Constabulary. This constabulary force ensures security of some of Pakistan's most dangerous regions. She made history earlier as the first female district officer in Frontier Constabulary, a post which has so far been reserved for men only. Naveed Akram Cheema will however be the official team manager, but Munawar will work diligently to streamline it and ensure everyone is communicating quite well with other players and even the PCB in the future. Munawar's appointment is a personal achievement and also a great milestone for women in Pakistan's law enforcement and sports sectors. Her leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the male-dominated cricket setup. Earlier, she had handled the Pakistan women's under-19 team during the Asia Cup, and that experience really helped in the proper management of the team as a whole and she is expected to utilize that experience with the men's team.
