During the first innings against West Indies, Knight had to leave the field due to a calf injury and was unable to return for the remainder of the match. West Indies women went on to successfully chase the target, eliminating England from the tournament. In a recent update, England Cricket announced that Heather has been cleared by the medical team after a lengthy injury recovery and is fit to compete in the 10th edition of the WBBL, which begins on October 27. Knight took to her social media to share an update on her injury that she had ruptured her plantaris tendon in her calf but reassured fans that she’s “doing well” and won’t be sidelined for long. The ECB confirmed that Knight will soon join her WBBL team, with her first game for the Thunder scheduled on October 28 against the Hobart Hurricanes in Tasmania. In a crucial must-win match against the West Indies during the Women's T20 World Cup, the England captain was retired out while on 21 runs. Despite England's efforts, it was the West Indies who triumphed, advancing to the knockout stages and ending England's campaign. A visibly emotional Heather Knight was later seen heartbroken and in tears over her team's exit in the group stage.
