The kind off-field gestures of KL Rahul had lately won many hearts. He fulfilled his promise to a 20-year-old boy, Amrut Mavinakatti, by covering his college fees. Mavinakatti, a resident of Mahalingapura in the Bagalkote district, was supported by Rahul financially in continuing his B.Com course at KLE Technological University, Hubballi. According to news on thesouthfirst.com, last year Rahul had aided Mavinakatti getting into that college and for the first year had promised to finance him for his second year also. Mavinakatti said: "Last year, KL Rahul helped to get admission into college. I also scored a 9.3 CGPA in the first year. He stands by his words, and has paid Rs 75,000 for my second-year studies." He added: “I thank KL Rahul, Manjunath Hebasur and Bagalkot’s Nithin for financially helping me to continue my studies. I will continue to put sincere efforts to excel in academics." He suffered hamstring injuries in IPL 2023 that made him miss most of the season, including the final of the ICC World Test Championship. He came back superbly for India in the Asia Cup by scoring a century against Pakistan. He became a regular part of India's Test and ODI teams and gave a decent performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Unfortunately, an injury during the home Test series against England in January ruled Rahul out after he scored 86 runs in Hyderabad. He therefore missed the rest of the series which India won 4-1. Rahul returned to cricket with IPL 2024, where he led Lucknow Super Giants, and then has played for India in the Sri Lanka tour that happened in July-August. He played in the Duleep Trophy followed by 2 Tests against Bangladesh where he scored a total of 106 runs.
