Ishan Kishan, on Sunday, became the first centurion of the Indian Premier League 2025. Playing his first match for Sunrisers Hyderabad, he smashed an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls to lead his team to a commanding 44-run victory over Rajasthan Royals. While he previously opened the innings for Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan batted at number three for SRH. Speaking to the media after his innings, Kishan credited the support from the management for giving him clarity and confidence to bat a bit down the order. "They keep it very simple, to be very honest. Like Pat [Cummins], he keeps it very simple. He knows if the player likes to attack from the beginning, he just backs it up. It's not like if you go in there and get out trying to hit, it adds up any pressure. That's the best part for any youngster," he said. Kishan also highlighted how the captain and the management's unwavering support boosted young players like Aniket Verma, allowing them to play with freedom. "He [Aniket Verma] just went for each and every ball, so that is the sort of confidence you get from your support staff, or I would say captain. It makes a huge difference. And that is something every player looks up to, so I would say it helped us a lot," he added. Ishan Kishan on his comeback Reflecting on his comeback, Kishan acknowledged the challenges he faced over the past year. After a disappointing domestic season and a lacklustre IPL 2024, where he scored 320 runs in 14 matches for MI, he was also dropped from BCCI's central contract for not prioritizing domestic cricket. "Whatever the situation was, I think I was never a person who was thinking about those bad moments. I was very much in the present, like what's needed. Yeah, I need to perform. So I just planned to get all the negative thoughts out and just think about what's ahead, like IPL was coming up," Kishan said. He dedicated his century to his family and the loyal SRH fans, expressing gratitude for their constant support. "I was just doing my hard work. It was more about my family, the fans who were always there, the ones who are here supporting me. My brother was there [at the venue]. So it was just for them," he concluded. Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Lucknow Super Giants in their second match of IPL 2025 on March 27 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
