Starc went on to dismiss KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Harshit Rana to finish with remarkable figures of 6/48 in 14.1 overs. The left-arm pacer was showered immense praise by the former Australian opener Matthew Hayden. The former Australian batter labelled Starc as a ‘magician with a pink ball.’ On Star Sports, Matthew Hayden said: “He has that scrambled seam delivery that goes across the right-hander, but when he does have that ability—which he did—I must admit I was a little surprised. I’ve never really seen the pink ball swing into the sort of 40th over and so aggressively swing as well. By that stage, he used a really important word, and it’s a bit of an underrated word as well, and that’s ‘momentum.’ It was all in favor of India.” He further added: "A difficult position to come back from in life and sport is those opportunities to wrestle back momentum, and Mitchell Starc did that in only the way he can—when the lights are like the way they are and with that beautiful-coloured ball in his hand. He’s just a magician with the Pink Ball.” Mitchell Starc registered his career-best bowling performance with this 6-fer, earlier his best bowling figure in an inning was 6-50 which came against Sri Lanka in 2016. Starc, who was not effective with the red ball in the Perth Test made a remarkable comeback in the second Test match.
