Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali has raised concerns over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) handling of injuries, claiming that young opener Saim Ayub is being babysat by the board. Speaking on the YouTube podcast Ultra Edge, Hasan recalled his own injury days and how he had been overlooked, unlike Ayub. Hasan said, “Saim Ayub is injured, and he is getting special treatment. Wasn’t I a member of the team in 2020? If another player gets injured, won’t he be part of the team? Does he play for India?” The 30-year-old pacer, who played a crucial role in Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy victory, expressed frustration over the disparity. He pointed out that if another player were to suffer a similar injury in the future, they might not receive the same level of care. Despite criticisms, he wished a speedy recovery for the young man. Ali added, "You're giving VVIP Treatment to Saim Ayub. If someone gets injured in the future, would you give him the same treatment? May God give him health and fitness, and may he win a lot of matches for Pakistan. But every rise has a fall. If Saim Ayub gets injured again, will they treat him the same? No, they won't." He last played in the 2023 World Cup, where he conceded 82 runs in his final match against New Zealand. Though he was recalled for the Test series in Australia, he was later dropped. Despite his recent struggles, Hasan remains Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker in the Champions Trophy’s last edition.
