In the latest development, some reports claim that Delhi pacer Harshit Rana has been called up for the final Test against New Zealand which is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. He is all set to make his Test debut against the Black Caps, ahead of the Australia tour. The announcement follows Harshit's impressive all-round performance for Delhi in their Ranji Trophy clash against Assam, where he claimed a five-wicket haul and scored a solid fifty while batting at No. 8. Initially, Harshit was chosen as a travelling reserve for India’s series against New Zealand, but team management later allowed him to join Delhi for their third-round Ranji match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Now, as per a report in The Indian Express, he’s set to make his Test debut at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday. They noted that Rana could make his debut just a day after the final deadline for IPL 2025 retentions. Rana’s stature has risen significantly since a standout IPL 2024 season, where he played a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders' title-winning campaign, mentored by Gautam Gambhir. The young fast bowler claimed 19 wickets in 13 matches, making him the highest wicket-taker among uncapped players and placing him fifth overall in the tournament. Harshit Rana will be looking to utilise this opportunity and seal a permanent spot in the Indian Test side. As India have already lost the Bengaluru and Pune Tests, they will be eyeing a solidarity victory to boost the morale in the camp ahead of the crucial BGT 2024-25 Trophy.
