The Australian former cricketer, as well as the former Indian coach, Greg Chappel, has drawn comparisons of the England youngster Harry Brook with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. While writing for a column in the Sydney Morning Herald, Chappell praised Brook for having a blistering start for England. Not only that, Chappel felt that Brook's impact is greater than that of Tendulkar's. Brook made his Test debut for England in September 2022 against South Africa. Since then, he has accumulated an impressive 2,281 runs in 24 matches, maintaining an average of 58.48. In December 2024, he briefly achieved the distinction of being ranked as the No. 1 batter in Test cricket. Drawing comparisons with Tendulkar, Chappell wrote, "Harry Brook, a batting sensation whose performances and approach I compare to the great Sachin Tendulkar. Remarkably, Brook's early career stats suggest he might even have outpaced the Indian maestro in terms of impact at the same stage." It showed that Brook has a better average, nearing 60, after scoring 1378 runs. On the other hand, Tendulkar scored 837 runs with a little less than 40. Chappel wrote, "To be fair, Sachin was still a teenager while Brook is in his mid-20s. His stability and minimalistic technique allow him to read the angles of the bowler and adjust his strokes with precision. The result? An extraordinary ability to score from most deliveries, whether they're pitched full, short, or on an awkward length." Chappell also compared Brook's field manipulation to Tendulkar's early brilliance, highlighting Brook's wristy flicks, drives, and back-foot shots. Though Tendulkar began lower in the order, Brook’s blend of aggression and consistency positions him as a key player for England’s future. "He's a prospect to build around," Chappell said.
